Manned Cloud --Flying Hotel
“Manned Cloud” by french designer Jean-Marie Massaud looks like it came right out of a sci-fi fantasy world. The aircraft was developed by French national aerospace research body ONERA and can hold up to 40 guests traveling at a speed of 130-170 km/h. The Manned Cloud has a two deck cabin with a library, fitness center, spa, restaurant, and a sun deck.

From the website:

“explore the world without a trace: to re-experience travelling, timelessness and enhance the consciousness of the beauty of the world – and to experience spectacular and exotic places without being intrusive or exploitative. For me this project sums up a way of thinking that is the stake of tomorrow.”

As cool as this may seem, I can’t help but wonder how much gas is guzzled for this 3 day voyage in the sky, but it still might be one of the many world wonders in development.

I’ve fallen in love with this trend of “artist” hotels ever since I stayed at the hotel fox in copenhagen this summer. Now i’ve discovered that there are TWO great artist hotels located less than hour from me in San Francisco. The First one is Hotel Tomo, a best western owned boutique hotel inspired by Japanese Pop Culture and anime. The hotel is all about video games, and features a “player suite” equipped with a fatboy lounge, Wii, PS3, and a giant TV to play it on.

Another Hotel to check out isĀ the Hotel Des Arts which is an amazing boutique hotel with every wall covered with custom works by local artists. You must go see the “room” gallery on their website to see all these fantastic rooms!
